As you may already know, Alexandra Burke was announced as the winner of X-Factor 2008 on Saturday. Now she is one of the top competitors for the- interesting- Christmas number one spot.

Alex is releasing a cover of Leonard Cohen classic ‘Hallelujah’. However, Jeff Buckley will release his 1994 version the same song this weekend too, after a campaign launched by fans to make his cover number one over the winner of the talent show.

Alex does have the bonus however of selling over 12,000 copies of the single since its release 2 days ago and has been the fastest selling digital download ever.

FACT: Hallelujah is the most covered song in history, and there are over 150 known covers of the song.
